It is with great sadness that local fundraisers Jane Rogers and Jeanette Birch, of Keep It Local '09, a Pembroke-based fundraising group, had to announce that due to illness, work and family commitments, they would cease to continue working in the community as from Monday, September 9.

They would like to thank everyone who has supported them during this time enabling them to help over 100 people with cancer over the past four years.

During this time of fundraising, many bingo nights were held, supermarket collections, car boots, raffles and leg waxes etc. Much fun was had, but with the serious aim of helping local cancer sufferers in need in the SA71/SA72 postcode areas.

All funds remaining have been donated to Pembrokeshire Cancer Support in Pembroke Dock, who continues to help and support cancer patients and carers in the local area and throughout Pembrokeshire.

Lyn Neville, who is the charity coordinator at Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, was quick to praise the commitment and dedication of Jane and Jeanette over the last four years.

Lyn said: "I have worked with them on occasions and they have been an inspiration to all and have showed what commitment to a cause can achieve. They should be very proud of all the help and support they have given to local people when going through this cruel illness.

"On behalf of all at Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, I would like to thank Jane and Jeanette for deciding to donate a substantial amount to enable us to continue our work throughout Pembrokeshire. We wish them all the very best for the future."
