Athletes who took part in the recent Ironman Wales event have once again been praised by the Mayor of Tenby.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, said she’d like to congratulate all the locals that took part and all the visiting triathletes.
“The conditions were horrific that day, I’ve still got a blister myself to prove it!” she laughed.
“We look forward to welcoming the event for the next five years,” added Clr. Mrs. Lane.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said that the De Valence had housed over 900 competitors at one point for the Ironman briefing.
“It was amazing. Our hall had over 900 athletes for the first briefing, and the next one was even busier! We also received tremendous thanks from the Ironman organisers, with the race director amazed at the amount of effort that went into welcoming all to Tenby.
“I’d also like to congratulate the Tenby Observer on their coverage, which produced a great packed paper,” added Clr. Mrs. Brown.
