The Friends of South Pembrokeshire Hospital had many of their usual supporters, plus people who were visiting Pembroke, at their regular Coffee Morning and Table Top Sale last Tuesday in the Town Hall.
The Friends are grateful to have such support from people who value their local hospital and are concerned about the thought of the MIU closing.
"We know that such a good attendance at local events helps to show the Hywel Dda Health Board that people are actively opposed to cutting out such essentials as the MIU -we need to make our voices heard," said a spokesperson.
"We do have an excellent display showing the progress of the charity and what has been provided already to the hospital. Our latest purchase has been 10 wheelchairs, two for the Cleddau River Day Unit and eight for the Occupation Therapy Department. None of this could be done without the support of the general public.
"The amount of stallholders who support this event is increasing and we are very pleased to offer everyone such an impressive assortment of different items. The larger space makes it easier for everyone, especially wheelchair users to wander around the stalls, relax over coffee, tea and fresh cakes, enjoying a friendly chat."
If you haven't been able to get to one of these events, please note that the next is on Tuesday, November 13. After that, the last of the year will be held on Tuesday, December 18, when the Grand Raffle will be drawn. The Friends are very grateful that local shops have been allowing them to sell raffle tickets. The stallholders will make sure that there will be lots of bargains to buy for Christmas presents.
