Tenby Round Table hosted their second Santa Run on Saturday after taking over the event from the town’s Ladies Circle. The event was another success, with over 100 people running the course.
Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, started the event and also helped hand out medals to the finishers.
For the first time, the event included two routes, the three kilometre main route, which lapped the town, Castle Square and harbour before finishing where it started outside St. Mary’s Church. There was also a shorter kids route for the smallest Santas, which was a lap of the church, coming in at around .5 kilometres.
The weather held off for the run, with plenty of smiles from all those who took part as they crossed the finish line.
The event used a much smoother online registration system than previous years and the majority of entries were received prior to the event.
Proceeds from the event are still being counted, but all money raised will be added into Tenby Round Table’s charitable donations to local causes.
The run was part of a full day of festive events, culminating in Santa’s arrival to turn on the town lights.
Tenby Round Table chairman, Matt Broadhurst, said of the event: “I’d like to say thank you again to those who turned out to run the event and those that gave such fantastic support along the route. This is our second year of hosting the event and it’s becoming a real highlight of the year, especially when we are getting such positive feedback from those running it.
“I’d like to thank all of Tenby Round Table’s members and the volunteers who helped to marshal the route, along with my fellow organisers, Joost Geertman and Ed Spence. Thank you, too, to the church, town council and everyone else who helped us put on another successful event this year.”
