Pembrokeshire County Councillor, Jon Harvey has urged residents from his ward to get-together and help out.
The county councillor for Pembroke St Mary’s North is looking for volunteers to help out in his ward.
He suggested that residents could volunteer to assist the elderly and the most vulnerable by getting the shopping or picking up medication.
Writing on Facebook, Clr. Harvey said: “Many of us will undoubtedly catch the virus over the coming weeks and will feel pretty rough for a few days but will recover completely.
“Thankfully, it would appear that children do not appear suffer particularly badly if they are infected.
“Whether the schools remain open remains to be seen as we move forward but currently the government advice is that they do.
“The elderly and those with an underlying health problem seem to be the most at risk and you will be aware of the government recommendations, operational from this weekend, in terms of avoiding social contact.
“As a community I have the utmost faith that we will all pull together to help the elderly who, understandably, must be feeling very anxious and fearful.”
