Sir, Which century are some of the Pembrokeshire County Councillors living in? You report (June 21) that two of them were proudly parading their climate change scepticism at a recent meeting, one of them reportedly looking forward to growing oranges and lemons ‘if Pembrokeshire’s temperature rose a couple of degrees’.

This is extraordinarily myopic. The huge weight of scientific evidence now widely accepted has led both the Welsh Government and Pembrokeshire County Council to declare a climate emergency.

It is shameful that 15-year-old Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg should be so much better informed than our local representatives. Pride in ignorance is a fairly recent phenomenon. We should be able to expect better from our councillors.
