Although the impending bad weather sadly forced the Saundersfoot Harbourside Christmas Carol Concert to the safer (and warmer) confines of the Sailing Club, nonetheless a wonderful evening of carols and musical entertainment was enjoyed by many who took the opportunity of getting into the Christmas spirit, singing along to eight popular Christmas carols and being entertained by a beautiful Christmas musical set played by Jemma Hurds, Jon and Charlotte.

The evening sponsored by County Financial Consultants, as always, was a celebration of and thank you for the outpouring of generosity of the people of Pembrokeshire who, through the months of October, November and December have donated to The Daniel Bridle Memorial Fund in aid of Bone Cancer Research Trust. To date, the total raised is £5,052.

Thanks go to our hosts, Saundersfoot Sailing Club, for providing their premises, the most welcome mince pies, hot drinks, a bar and the perfect setting for the Carol Concert. Also, huge thanks go to Scott who provided all the equipment to stage the event, without which, the event could not have happened.

The draw of the Grand Christmas Raffle in aid of Bone Cancer Research Trust took place by the Christmas tree and Brian McKehon was ably assisted by Iwan and Mari Anthony who drew the winning tickets. The winner of the first prize, a Four Ball Golf Day at Celtic Manor, which was generously donated by County Financial Consultants, was Rhian Howell, of Narberth, with ticket number 1502.

There were 37 prizes in all and Susan, Brian and Caroline would also like to thank: National Express, Bodysocks, Dale Sailing, Heywoods of Saundersfoot, Vue Cinema Carmarthen, Labels for Less of Saundersfoot, Folly Farm, National Botanic Garden of Wales, Stena Line, Watkins Bakery of Begelly, Crafty Wool Shop of Tenby, The Royal Mint, Kelly’s Hair Salon of Saundersfoot, Beaver’s Retreat, St. Bride’s Hotel, Tesco Express of Saundersfoot, The Carew Inn, Bluestone, Little and Large Lite Bites of Saundersfoot, Jill and John Donnachie, Trade Canvas Print of Tenby, Giltar Hotel, Kilgetty Pharmacy, Glamorgan CCC, Manor House Wildlife Park together with Co-Op Kilgetty, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsburys of Tenby, Tesco Haverfordwest, Carmarthen, Pembroke Dock and Tesco Express Saunderfoot for allowing us to collect on their premises and all those too numerous to mention who helped us on our journey to raising this amazing amount of money.

There have been incidences of local people who have sadly lost their battle against bone cancer and if you were unable to participate in the current fundraising and would like to make a donation, please visit Daniel’s page on the Bone Cancer Research website, www.bcrt.org.uk
