Eluned Brown, a well-known and much-loved lifelong resident of Tenby, will be enjoying a weekend celebrating her 100th birthday, with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born in the same house in Church Park in which she now lives, Eluned has worshipped all her life at St. Johns Church (formerly the Congregational Church). Her links to the church go back a long way.

Eluned’s grandparents were married in the church, as were her parents, and she married Ken there, to whom she was married for 60 years. Three of her children also kept up the tradition by marrying there.

Eluned served as a deacon in St. Johns for 40 years, was the first woman church secretary, and was secretary of the Women’s Fellowship for 30 years. In addition, she was pianist for the Junior Church, was a member of the choir, of the Cymrodorion Society, and has helped organise coffee mornings and church fetes for many years. In her time, she has seen the tenure of 11 ministers. One hundred years worship in one church alone! No wonder she calls it her second home.

Eluned has five children, Tony, who lives in Lamphey, Christine in Exeter, David living in Hampton, Susan in Tenby and Anthea now in Cardiff, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. All of her family will be joining her for this historic occasion.

Happy Birthday Eluned!
