A local lady diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a year ago, has been taking on a fundraising challenge to raise awareness of the incurable disease that can cause serious disability.

Forty-one-year-old Hannah Webster, was diagnosed with MS last year, with the news coming as a shock to the former public relations manager and keen marathon runner, now living in Manorbier.

“I’d noticed my legs feeling like jelly after a run, but I never in a million years thought I’d end up with an MS diagnosis,” she said.

Hannah’s early symptoms have included temporary blindness in one eye and numbness on her left side. “I have had to give up work and I’m worried that I will gradually get worse and end up in a wheelchair, “ she added.

To help spread the word and funds towards the cause, Hannah has taken on a series of challenges in recent weeks with ‘Team Web’ (including husband Neil pictured with Hannah) behind her.

Last month she took part in a campaign called KissGoodbyeToMS (50k in May), where she was joined by family and friends to walk 100km, row 50km, altogether raising £1,464 for the campaign.

CrossFit Pembrokeshire (pictured) in both Carew and Haverfordwest held a special workout over the Bank Holiday weekend where everyone donated to the cause, raising £450 for the campaign, with £120 going to local MS Hope Centre in Neyland.

“So, #50kInMay is over and we are so grateful to have raised £1,464 for the Kissgoodbyetoms campaign for the MS Society UK plus £120 for the Hope MS Centre in Neyland,” continued. Hannah.

“This charity run centre supports patients with mainly MS (but also other illnesses) with oxygen therapy and physio.

“Over May Neil and I...and Ralph our dog who probably did triple, walked 100km, rowed 50km and mum walked 50km - so well done and thank you!

“This month has seen a mix of beautiful Pembrokeshire walks, rows in CrossFit Pembrokeshire and in the spare bedroom - but it has been really nice to have a focus for a great cause, and obviously very close to our hearts now, and we are blown away by the generosity of everyone.

“When we first put our target of £100 we never thought it would go so far.

“I’m so grateful to have the support of the fabulous CrossFit team, where members took on the Murph (workout) challenge on Saturday all in aid of MS. Such fun - I salute you all.

“Thanks again for your love and your donations, I know it’s a crazy time, but here’s to one day finding a cure.
