Twenty-five members met to sing Jerusalem and then deal with the minutiae of WI business, before trying out some crochet.

Everyone said they had enjoyed the trip out in June to the Carmarthen Museum and then onto the Botanic Gardens of Wales at Nantgaredig.

After tea everyone settled down to an ‘in house’ hands-on crochet tutorial led by Marnie and ably assisted by Carol.

It’s much more difficult than it looks and totally different from knitting but although everyone had an attempt at it, comments ranged from “I’d like to master that” to “crochet is not for me”!

Marylene won the competition entitled ‘homemade item of knitting or crochet’. Edith came second with Bronwen K third. Bronwen also won the raffle prize.

September will be Carew WI’s next get together, when the ladies will visit the Alpaca Farm in Stepaside.
