Well, it was a smart start to the season, in more ways than one, for Pembroke RFC Under 10s team on Sunday!
Kitted out in their new kit, very kindly sponsored by Trant, Pembroke's team of 13 Under 10 boys made the journey to Whitland RFC to take part in a mini festival.
After being undefeated last season, Pembroke's coaches were hoping that the Under 10s would pick up where they left off!
Pembroke had been drawn in a group with three other teams, those being Whitland, Tenby and Milford Haven.
First up was Whitland. On every previous meeting, the games have been extremely close with both teams producing some excellent rugby - well Sunday was no exception! Onlookers were amazed at the high standard of rugby being produced and it was only the start of the season. Pembroke continued to play at a high standard which culminated in a well deserved two tries to nil win. The tries being scored by Travis Mathias and Tom Cabot.
The next game saw old rivals Tenby in a similarly tough game. Both teams used the whole pitch well which opened up some spaces for a few more tries to be scored. Pembroke produced some excellent rugby, this time sealing a win by four tries to two, scorers being Travis Mathias (2), Zac Jones and Adam Phillips.
The last game of the morning was against Milford Haven. Although both teams had already played two tiring games, the standard of rugby was no less. The width of the pitch was well used as the boys played an open game of rugby. Once again, Pembroke were the winning team with a result of four tries two two, Pembroke tries being scored by Iori Humphreys, Jack Jones and Zac Jones (2).
A great performance through all games meant a happy squad and even happier coaches, Neil Humphreys and John Jones. A fantastic start to another promising season!
A huge thank you to the coaches and parents for their continued support and effort.
