A meeting called to look at the possibilities of extending the Skateboard and Scooter Park at Tenby’s Jubilee play area was very well attended, Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, told fellow members of the Town Council on Tuesday night.

“There was obviously great enthusiasm for the idea and the concept designs that we have already received,” said Clr. Mrs. Brown.

The meeting was told that the project would probably take around a year to complete and costs would be in the region of £130,000.

“The Town Council has earmarked roughly £29,000, so there will be a lot of work looking at other funding options and grant aid, but all those who attended were keen to become involved in fund-raising and drumming up support,” she continued.

“The youngsters were already talking about approaching local businesses for support and holding things like sponsored skate jams.”

Clr. Mrs. Brown said that the next stage would be to hold regular monthly meetings to update progress and look towards forming a fund-raising committee.
