Sir,
Can I, through the medium of the Tenby Observer, thank the lifeguard on Castsle Beach and the very kind person that returned a phone belonging to a guest of mine, on Thursday, August 11.
Two young people from Germany were staying with me for the week. Noemie, together with her brother and uncle (my son-in-law) were enjoying a visit to Castle Beach and St. Catherine’s Island. When she went to take a photo of Tenby from the island, she realised she’d lost her phone, though she’d used it on Castle Beach.
Returning to the beach, she began asking people on the sands if they’d seen her phone. The lifeguard realised what was happening, came over to her and asked if she owned the phone that had been handed in.
Naturally, Noemie was thrilled and delighted to reclaim it.
But the story doesn’t end there. An hour or so later, whilst we were finishing dinner, my grand-daughter Megan, also staying with us, received a text from her brother on holiday in Spain, saying ‘Noemie has left her phone on Castle Beach, she needs to pick it up from the lifeguard.’
So, some quick thinking, the marvel of modern technology, the honesty of holidaymakers and the lifeguard, made one young German visitor visiting Wales for the very first time, very happy.
Thank you, whoever you are.
Mollie Neate,
Tenby.
