Tenby’s De Valence Pavilion is set to temporarily close for a period from next month so that further refurbishment works to improve facilities can be made.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown told her fellow members that the premises would be closed to bookings for most of February and March.
“We will be spending some money on making alterations to the toilet facilities and also introducing a kitchenette for hirers to use,” she explained.
“The dance floor is also set for a professional refurb, which hasn’t been done since the ’90s, while the bar will have its lighting redesigned and also proper shutters introduced.”
Clr. Mrs. Brown said that bookings were coming in fast for the rest of the year, with wedding bookings already in place for 2019.
After a full period of events over the festive period, that saw sell-out shows for wrestling and pantomimes, Clr. Mrs. Brown said that she was happy that the venue was doing ‘very well’.
“I’d like to propose a vote of thanks to the De Valence committee and especially Clr. Mrs. Brown for all the hard work they do, as I don’t think people realise the venue is run by volunteers,” said the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane.
