Locals continue to give a boost to the RNLI in what has been a busy month for fundraising.

May has become a very important month for the RNLI with the annual Mayday Appeal taking place throughout the UK.

Tenby youngster seven-year-old Samuel Fecci (pictured) decided to take part in the RNLI’s Mayday Mile challenge, where supporters are asked to cover at least one mile in any way they choose and raise vital funds to keep people safe on our coastline.

Sam is well on his way to raising £300 after surpassing his original target.

To highlight his fundraising and respect for the lifesaving charity, Sam has helped create an RNLI themed window display at his home along The Norton, which even features an original film from 1956 of the Tenby Lifeboat out on a shout.

Other locals have been taking part in the RNLI Ramble, which has been running from March to May.

In a normal year, the Tenby RNLI fundraising committee would have held various events, and there would have been street collections, all boosting RNLI funds, but that hasn’t stopped faithful fundraisers doing their bit.

“We have missed many of our usual events such as the Pancake Races, a fashion show and various coffee mornings - but, that doesn’t mean that the work of the RNLI has stopped,” said Nicole Evans of the Tenby RNLI Fundraising branch.

“We decided that we had to do something, so the RNLI Ramble was born. We asked anyone and everyone to do a ramble anywhere, and donate a minimum of £5 to the RNLI.

“We are so very grateful to all those who have rambled, and to those who have donated.

“If anyone has forgotten and would still like to contribute, all committee members will be a happy to receive donations. Who knows, we might even make £2,000,” she added.

Locals Helen Hughes and Gill John are pictured taking part in a long walk from Tenby to Wiseman’s Bridge as part of the RNLI Ramble challenge.
