Sunday saw over 50 pupils, teachers, parents, the odd grandparent, friends and even Observer staff take up the challenge and abseil down the 80-foot great keep at Pembroke Castle, all in aid of the St. Teilo’s School Play for Life Project.

Assistant headteacher Mrs. Angela Nicholls said afterwards: “We had a fantastic day at the castle. Overhang were brilliant and John persuaded even the most nervous of us to get safely down! So far we’ve raised over £2,000 and we’ve yet to collect all the sponsor money!”

Mum Katrina Russell made a fantastic abseil-themed cake for the raffle and Sainsbury’s contribution of chocolate eggs as raffle prizes and for the dragon egg hunt were very much appreciated!

All money raised is going towards the second phase of the Play for Life Project. Phase one was completed last year and the children are loving it! Phase two will allow us to re-develop the main playground and make it a fun and challenging environment.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success!
