Due to recent government announcements surrounding COVID-19 and the unprecedented challenges facing the nation, the TenFoot Swim and FootStep Run committee have taken the sad decision to cancel the 2020 event which was due to take place in July in Saundersfoot and Tenby.

As a token of appreciation and in recognition of the wonderful work NHS staff are currently undertaking, the event organisers have offered health care workers free entry for the any of the events next year.

Event’s Chairman, Chris Williams said: “As you know, The TenFoot Committee is made up of volunteers, who raise much needed funds for nominated charities as a not for profit group.

“Since its inception in 2017, the events have raised in excess of £65,000 for worthwhile causes and we have prided ourselves on the mantra, of making ‘safety’ our number one priority.

“The safety of our entrants, volunteers, supporters, event partners and sponsors must come first. This year we are all facing uncertain and unprecedented challenges in a fast-moving situation.

“COVID-19 presents serious risks to health and we all have a duty to keep each other safe.

“Whilst we are unable to support this year’s nominated charities (Motor Neurone Disease Association) (Guide Dogs for the Blind Association) (Get The Boys a Lift), they will remain our focus for 2021, when we will return, bigger and better,” he continued.

Committee members would like to thank everyone linked to the events for their continued support, without which, they would not take place and would not be the success they have become.

Following this announcement, entrants will be contacted, and arrangements made to refund 100 per cent of their entry fee.

Chris went onto thank all participants for entering this year’s events.

“I was taking part myself, in the Swim/Run and I encourage you not to put your hard training to waste, why not enter for July 2021, and make it an event to remember!” he remarked.

Further details surrounding the offer to NHS?staff will be communicated via The TenFoot Swim website and Facebook page, when the 2021 event goes live later this year.
