Pembrokeshire residents are being urged to take extra care over the coming days with forecasts of heavy rain and strong winds.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind from midnight tonight until 3 pm tomorrow (December 16) and yellow rain warnings through until Saturday.

Given the amount of rain that has fallen in Pembrokeshire over recent days there is the potential for further flooding.

Natural Resources Wales has issued a Flood Warning for the River Ritec at Tenby with further widespread flood alerts expected.

Drivers are urged to beware of hazardous conditions on the roads due to surface water flooding.

Road closures may be required with B4318 at Gumfreston among those that may be closed overnight. Please follow all warning and diversion signs.

With a coastal flood alert in place in Pembrokeshire, there is also the potential for wave over-topping along the coast with pebbles and debris washing onto roads as the wind coincides with tomorrow morning’s high tide. Gusts of 50-60mph are possible.

The impact at Newgale and other flood prone areas will be closely monitored.

Members of the public are asked to be mindful and take extra precautions around the coast.
