Despite the mizzely conditions, a furry of Father Christmas’ joined in the fun of the annual Santa Run on Sunday, hosted by Narberth and Whitland Rotary.

The start of the run was overseen by Narberth’s Deputy Mayor, Glynis Meredith aided and abetted by town crier Ceri Barnes, and attended by over 100 participants.

Dressed in a blaze of red and white, the Santas, encouraged by the cheers of observers and supporters alike, ran, skipped and walked around the streets of the town, eventually finishing their run back at Narberth Rugby Club where they were met by Father Christmas himself ably helped by ‘Chief Elf’ Leah.

Mulled wine and mince pies were served by Howard Llewellyn and Kenna Crawford and were enjoyed with gusto as the sporty Santas celebrated their achievement with the presentation of a commemorative medal.

Thanks must go to Narberth Rugby Club for hosting the event, Ken Morgan and John Hughes for the inspiration and organisation, Callum Goldthorpe who arranged the road closures, Castell Howell, Narberth Spa and Wisebuys for supplying the food, drink and sweets, and Narberth Round Table for providing Father Christmas with his sleigh, together with the not inconsiderable number of volunteers, including the Army Cadet Force who helped to register, marshal, direct, feed and water the crowd of athletic Santas.

Thanks also to Andrew Fieldhouse who stepped in to take photographs for the event.

All monies raised will be used to support Narberth and Whitland Foodbanks who provide an invaluable service to those in need throughout the year but especially at this time.
