Pembrokeshire's cruise season got underway this week with the arrival of Silver Explorer at Pembroke Port on Wednesday. Operated by Silverseas Cruise Line, Silver Explorer is a small luxury expedition vessel and had 130 passengers on board. She arrived at Pembroke Port from the Scilly Isles and stayed for six hours before departing for Dublin. Silver Explorer is 108m in length and carries almost the same amount of crew as it does passengers. The Port of Milford Haven is committed to promoting Pembrokeshire as a cruise destination, as cruise vessels make a significant contribution to the local economy. During 2013, over 3,000 passengers visited Pembrokeshire from seven cruise vessels, with each passenger spending £80 on average in the local community. The next cruise call will be on August 5 in Milford Haven.
