One person tragically died in a fire in Pembroke Dock on Tuesday.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue responded to a property fire at Munro Court shortly after 4 pm.

On arrival, fire crews from Pembroke Dock, Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and Tenby were confronted with a mid-terraced single storey bungalow engulfed in fire.

The crews worked hard in difficult conditions to extinguish the blaze and prevent it spreading to the adjoining properties.

During firefighting and search operations, the crews discovered that one person had sadly died in the blaze.

Specialist fire investigators from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are currently undertaking a joint investigation with Dyfed Powys Police to determine the cause of the fire.

Fire service station manager Sion Slaymaker said: "Work is ongoing with colleagues from Dyfed Powys Police to determine the cause of this fire which has had such tragic consequences. Naturally, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased and we would extend our sincere condolences to them at this time."

Sion added: "Local fire crews and members of the Pembrokeshire community safety department will be in the area over the coming days to support the local community, provide free domestic fire safety advice and offer home fire safety checks."
