Last Sunday, the weather was overcast, but past president of the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot, Rob Talboys, thought it was perfect for duck racing. His team of assistants and ducks were soon deployed to carry out their duties.

There was an excellent response from the public, who rapidly selected their racing ducks, which were then transported to the harbour and the race starting line. The sluice gates were opened and a surge of water carried the ducks along the race course in the harbour, to applause from the watching public.

The leading ducks soon reached the finishing line and Osian Jones from Carmarthen won £50 for picking the winning duck, Jennifer Page from the Rhondda received £10 for picking the second duck and Chris Billaitis won £5 for picking the third duck.

The race was the last one to be organised this summer by the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot and the ducks and Rotarians can enjoy a well-earned rest.

The president and members of the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot would like to thank the Harbour Commissioners for allowing the event to take place and the public for their valued support.
