The Mayor of Tenby, Clr. T. Gilroy Phillips, made a specially prepared statement in answer to criticisms of the council over the investiture celebrations.
A children’s party was held on board HMS Tenby. A cheque for £40 was presented to the Avenue School and Centre for mentally handicapped at Tenby from the welfare fund or HMS Tenby.

Two leading figures in the educational field in Tenby retired. Mr. Wilfred Harrison MBE, deputy headmaster of Greenhill County Secondary School, retired after over 41 years on the school staff.
Also retiring was Mr. Glyn Williams, deputy head of Tenby County Primary School, after 35 years.
The oldest full-time presbyterian minister in Wales, the Rev David Davies, of Bethesda Church, Tenby Road, and Zion Chapel, Begelly, completed 50 years in the ministry.
A move to withdraw Tenby United Rugby Club’s offer of a triangular piece of land at their Heywood Lane ground to the town council for use as a playground for Knowling Mead was defeated by 23 votes to 15 at the club’s annual general meeting.
The Rev. Thomas rector of St. Florence for the previous seven-and-a-half-years was moving to Newport in September to become vicar of St. Julian’s Church.
‘Robert Recorde’ took principal honours in Greenhill County Secondary School sports at Heywood Lane, maintaining their reputation as the school’s top athletics house.
This year their victory was very convincing, as they finished 75 points clear of their nearest rivals, ‘Glyndwr’.
A number of school and county records were broken during the sports, which were watched by a large crowd of parents.
Jane Walters set a new county record in the junior shot and school records were also broken by Caroline Meyrick (senior javelin), Dale Rostron (middle girls high jump), Evelyn King (middle girls javelin). Olwen John (middle girls discus) and Elaine Hammersley (sub0junior girls high jump).
New county records were set by Lyndon Llewellyn (enior boys long jump), Keith Coleman (senor boys 200 metres), Andrew Parsell (middle boys 200 metres) and J. Meyrick (junior boys long jump).
The school record was beaten by Anthony Hewitt (junior boys shot-put) and P. Bolton (junior boys pole vault).
