One of Pembrokeshire’s best-known public figures, the Rt. Hon William Brereton Couchman Lewis, Baron Merthyr, beacme a knight commander of the Britisj Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Narberth RDC workmen were administered by Tenby firemen to clear oil from the Saundersfoot beach between Glen Beach and the harbour. The oil had come from pebbles on the shore and with each successive tide, more oil was uncovered.

Her attendants would be Dorothy Owen, of Cold Blow, and Elizabeth Feetham, of Narberth.

The Fairy Queen would be Julie Griffiths and her attendants would be sisters Janet and Shirley Morgan.

An outline plan for shops, furniture salesroom, flats and underground car park at the junction of Tenby’s Warren Street and Harding Street was approved in principle by the Borough Council’s general purposes committee.

A very successful bazaar was held at Tenby Bowling Club in brilliant sunshine. the various stalls were attractively arranged and well-supported by friends and visitors.
