There are anniversary celebrations at Tenby’s Weybourne Guest House.

This month marks Tracey and Steve Thomas’s 20th year at the Warren Street establishment.

A family run guest house - with son James (Bowen), who works in the Qube restaurant, helping out when needed - it is run solely by the owners, whose reputation for good food and friendly service brings back guests year after year.

A typical Victorian town house, the three star Wales Tourist Board rated Weybourne Guest House still retains some original features. There is a tastefully refurbished lounge to relax in and a separate dining room, with a large collection of old pictures and prints of Tenby.

All the bedrooms have their own en suite bathrooms, tea and coffee facilities, televisions, clock radios, iron and ironing boards, hairdryers and central heating.

There are doubles, twins and family rooms available, and Tracey is happy to let a double for single occupancy at a reduced rate outside the main holiday season (July and August).

Tracey and Steve are happy to provide their guests with additional services, including use of walking maps and guide books, special diets catered for (by prior arrangement), vegetarian meals and walkers and cyclists facilities.

It was back in November 1996 when Tracey moved to Tenby with her son James. Previously working as a picture framer, Tracey wanted to work from home and decided to take over the guest house. Initially, she planned to have the guest house when James was a toddler, but 20 years later, she is still at the helm, now with the help of husband Steve, who she met four years after settling in Tenby.

Tracey and Steve have undertaken two major refits, one in early 2000 and the other 10 years later in spring 2010.

“We have lots of regular guests returning every year,” says Tracey. “Some have returned every year for the whole 20 years we’ve been here,” she continues.

“One particular family started staying with their children not long after I bought the guest house. Now the children have grown up and bring their own children to stay!

“Our regular guests really do feel like part of the family.”

Weybourne Guest House, 14 Warren Street, is open 12 months of the year.
