‘Eyesore’ blue bins that have been criticised by town councillors for being allowed alongside Tenby’s historic walls have now been removed.
Members of the town council recently met with Pembrokeshire County Council’s head of environment Richard Brown, who is also Tenby’s ‘liaison link officer’ to complain that the food waste bins placed along the South Parade by businesses were ‘smelly and greasy’ and causing an eyesore in that area.
Mr. Brown confirmed that a solution to the matter was being sought, and that PCC’s trade and waste team were liaising with the businesses about the concerns.
At Tuesday night’s meeting. the town clerk updated members, informing them that the bins had now been removed and that a compromise had been reached between the premises’ and the trade waste control team.
The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane commented that it would be useful to see a waste management plan when planning applications were put forward for food outlets in the town.
Clr. Laurence Blackhall thanked all those involved in getting the matter sorted, and also sought to seek insurances that no permission would be granted for other premises in the area for similar food waste bins to be placed outside properties.
