Responding to the Cunliffe Review of the Water sector, former Welsh Conservative Senedd Leader Andrew RT Davies has warned against granting more powers to the Senedd’s failed environmental regulator Natural Resources Wales.
The Commission recommends establishing a new economic regulator for Wales, which could be integrated into NRW – a move the South Wales Central MS said would be a “huge mistake”.
Mr Davies said:
“The Senedd’s failed environmental regulator Natural Resources Wales is too big – and more powers is the last thing it needs.
“Of the top 20 polluted most polluted rivers in Britain, five are in Wales – this happened on Senedd ministers’ watch.
“NRW should not be granted more powers, instead it should be closed and replaced.”
