REDBERTH teen Ida Livock has been praised by Carew Community Council for her incredible efforts in helping tackle antisocial littering around Carew.

As part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award service, Ida collected over 30 bags of rubbish from the hedgerows - an amazing achievement - and one she really shouldn’t have had to take on alone.

Carew Community Council chairman Cllr Simon Hosker-Hicks said: “She has done an amazing job.

“Sadly, littering continues to be a constant issue along our village roads, with energy drink cans, and more worryingly alcohol cans and bottles, regularly being thrown from passing vehicles.

“This is something many in our community feel deeply concerned about, especially given how proud we are of our beautiful, peaceful village.

“Ida, thank you, you’re a credit to our community.

“We truly need more young people like you.

“We would also like to thank all those who quietly do their bit, whether that’s picking up the odd piece of rubbish or carrying out their own mini litter picks. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are very much appreciated.”

Carew community councillors invite everyone to join them for a community litter pick next Saturday, March 28. Meet at Carew Community Hall at 10am. Litter pickers, hoops, and bags will be provided.

“Please come together and see how much we can achieve around Carew and the surrounding area,” added Cllr Hosker-Hicks.
