MAKE it All Go Away is a new inclusive picture book about sensory overload by Swansea-based award-winning children’s author Helen Docherty.

Described by ‘The Gift Shop Bear’ author Phyllis Harris as “A wonderfully fun read and a much-needed addition to your social emotional learning book collection,” Make it All Go Away is illustrated by Taylor Barron and is suitable for all ages, especially 4-8 years.

Join Melodie on a day out with her family as she visits the pungent market, noisy bathroom, too brightly-lit mall and overly crowded park, and gets progressively overwhelmed as the day continues.

Author of The Snatchabook, The Storybook Knight and Someone Just Like You, Helen Docherty is very well known in South Wales. Her new 32-page hardback book is inspired by her own daughter’s experiences of sensory overload.

Make it All Go Away (ISBN 9781917194075) ensures that other children with similar experiences can feel represented and neurotypical children can be introduced to why their friends and family sometimes get overwhelmed. It also includes an informative spread on key terms such as masking, stims and sensory overload.

Helen will be launching her brand new book in the Idris Room at Urban HQ, 37 Orchard Street, Swansea on Saturday, November 1, 3-4.30pm. If you’re in the area, go along, meet Helen and grab your of Make it All Go Away!

InclusAbility will also be there on the day to chat, answer questions, and offer support to anyone with a disability, impairment, or neurodivergent condition.
