The first Duck Race of the season, run by the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot, took place in Saundersfoot Harbour, and more events are on the way, all for charity.
With the brilliant weather and the Bank Holiday it was a sell out of the ducks on Sunday, May 28. They had been well rested over the Winter, so were raring to go, however with the wind direction, the tide was held back, which necessitated a shortened course.
Still an exciting race took place and all three prizes were claimed, the winning duck owner being Deb Weston from Caerphilly.
The event was held at Saundersfoot Harbour by kind permission of the Commissioners and great help from the staff.
The next Duck Race is scheduled to take place on the June 11, which will be for the Saundersfoot Branch of the RNLI, weather permitting. Usually Duck Races take place fortnightly, weather permitting.
When the school holidays start, the Club also intends to hold Duck Races and Pig Roasts, but on a Friday evening, watch out for the Pink Pigs advertising the events.
All the profits of these events go towards the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot charitable causes, which help, local national and international deserving cases.
