A newly formed Pembrokeshire entertainment group’s version of pantomime favourite Cinderella has raised over £3,000 for cancer care at Withybush Hospital.

Newly formed group Cause for Drama recently staged their own take of the panto at Letterston Memorial Hall to help raise funds for the Cancer Day Unit at the hospital in Haverfordwest.

The group came up with the idea in support of Non Harries, a well known musical director in North Pembrokeshire who has been receiving treatment at the Unit.

Tristan Mansell, from the group explained “Non is at the heart of our music community so we wanted to do something positive for her and for others who attend the Unit. Not having much time, the group really rallied together and worked as a great team to put this show together so quickly”.

The group definitely delivered in style by putting on three energetic shows to packed audiences at each performance. It was so successful that they plan to repeat the pantomime again with two further shows on April 6 at Letterston Memorial hall for those who could not get tickets. The hard work paid off and Cause for Drama was able to raise £3,400.

The cheque was presented recently to Bernie George from local charity Withybush Hospital Cancer Day Unit Appeal and many of the nursing team who work in the Day Unit who offered their own thanks to the group.
