THE carnival on Saturday was one of the biggest Neyland has had in years, and turned out a great success.

It had been three years since the town had last been able to hold a carnival, and this year was the 100th Anniversary.

Floats included ‘Viva Las Vegas’ by The Rose & Willow; ‘Toy Story’ by The Legionaire;  ‘Pirates’ by The Admiral Benbow; ‘Batman’ by Lawrenny Street; ‘Harry Potter’ by High Street;  ‘Hilbillies’ by Harbour Close; ‘Disney’ by Cleddau Avenue;  ‘Toy Story’ by Charles street;  ‘Where’s Wally’ by Neyland Community School; ‘Pirates/World Cup’ by Neyland junior football.

A carnival committee member said:  “We’ve honestly never had so many entries, there were also lots of walking entries from VIPS Class Acts Dance School and many more!  And of course the lovely Carnival Prince and Princess!”

Commenting on Facebook following the event, the committee wrote: “Wow, Neyland! You certainly did not disappoint. Everybody looked fantastic...Well done and thank you for all of the hard work that went into making it a huge success!”
