At the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven staff are always keen to know what audiences think - and they’re particularly interested in young people’s perspectives, what they think about their experience of visiting the Torch and whether the theare shows the right things.

So they have invited Riley Barn to become their latest reviewer. Riley is 12 years old and attends Milford Haven School. Over the next few months, Riley will be visiting the shows and films he wants to see and writing a review for the theatre which will be shared on social media and publish on the Torch website for everyone to read. And that’s all his comments, whether he likes what he sees or not!

Riley was introduced to this opportunity by one of his teachers who had met with the Torch team.

He said:“I was overjoyed to hear I was considered for this amazing chance to become a reviewer. I love movies and plays and I’ve always loved to act out parts from my favourite movie. So when I heard that I could review other people’s work I was excited to see it done professionally. I’ve been to shows at the Torch Theatre before so I know how great they can be and I’m hoping they will be just as great!”

Riley is getting into the Christmas spirit and will be reviewing the pantomime Sleeping Beauty as well as the new Matilda movie.

More about Riley:

“I have three siblings who I love very much. I was born in Germany as my Dad was in the army at the time. Two years ago he left and began training to become a teacher. My mum works at our local school and works extremely hard to make sure everyone at school and at home is happy.”

Benjamin Lloyd, Executive Director of the Torch: “We are delighted to have Riley on board. It’s very important we engage with young people and their views of the arts in their community. We want listen to them to make sure we are delivering what they want now and in the future.”
