CHAPTER One Bookshop in Narberth is playing host to two authors this week speaking on subjects close to their hearts.
On Monday, November 10, local writer Mark Lewis will be giving a talk on the Myth of Richard Burton on what would have been Burton’s 100th birthday. The talk is part of Chapter One and Narberth Museum’s Richard Burton Festival celebrating the Welsh icon’s centenary.

Mark Lewis’ extensive collection of Richard Burton film posters is currently on display at Narberth Museum and this talk explores the myths around the actor’s life, work and relationships, most notably with Elizabeth Taylor.
The talk is from 6 to 8pm and tickets are £5. The Chapter One bar will be open for drinks.
You can catch the exhibition at Narberth Museum until Friday, December 19 and there will be one more event celebrating Burton’s life when Angela V John comes to the bookshop on Friday December 5.
Then on Friday, November 14 at 6.30pm, Menna Elfyn will be at Chapter One to give readings from Parch, her new book of poetry.
Menna will be joined by local writer and translator, Emma Baines who will also read from the collection.
Parch is Menna Elfyn’s sixth poetry book from Bloodaxe and for the first time includes many poems written in English and some in her own translation. Other poems in the collection are translated by Emma Baines, Joseph P Clancy, Gillian Clarke, Robert Minhinnick and RS Thomas.
Menna will also be signing books after the talk in the bookshop. Tickets (£5) include a 10 per cent discount on Menna’s book.
Chapter One is a friendly, volunteer-run independent bookshop based at Narberth Museum. The bookshop has new and secondhand books and a cosy café. And it hosts events from author talks and workshops to book bars and paperback breakfasts.
