Haverfordwest Town Council has awarded a grant of £699 and Haverfordwest High VC School has kindly donated £100 towards the purchase of a new digital piano for the Paul Sartori Community Choir.

Formed just over three years ago, the Paul Sartori Community Choir has grown now to around 90 members, making it the largest Community Choir in Pembrokeshire. With support from the Community Changemakers Fund and subsequent funding by the National Lottery Awards for All, the choir was created to improve wellbeing through music while raising awareness and funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation, which provides hospice-at-home services throughout the county.

The new Digital Piano which was purchased with these donations and the choir’s own resources will replace a kindly donated keyboard. This will provide the choir with enhanced sound quality and volume control to support their weekly rehearsals and wide range of public performances. Its portability will also allow the choir to bring high-quality accompaniment to community venues across Pembrokeshire.

“Haverfordwest Town Council is proud to support the Paul Sartori Community Choir through this grant,” said Cllr Roy Thomas, Mayor of Haverfordwest. “Music has a unique power to bring people together, and the choir’s work in promoting wellbeing and community spirit is truly inspiring. We’re delighted that our contribution has helped provide a new digital piano to enhance their performances and outreach.”

Reg White, Community Liaison Lead at Haverfordwest High VC School also said, “Haverfordwest High VC School is proud to support the Paul Sartori Community Choir, as it is an integral part of our local community. Many of our Staff have fond memories of Father Sartori, having previously attended Mary Immaculate School, and a number of our families have benefitted from the Hospice care. We look forward to continuing our association with the Choir and the wider Charity.”

Judith Williams, Grant Development Officer at Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, said, "We are so grateful to Haverfordwest Town Council and Haverfordwest High VC School for their generous contributions. The Paul Sartori Community Choir has become a vital part of local life, bringing people together through music, improving wellbeing, and raising awareness for our hospice services. This new digital piano will help ensure the choir continues to thrive and enrich our community."

The Paul Sartori Community Choir continues to demonstrate how music can bring people together, foster wellbeing, and make a positive difference while raising funds for end-of-life care in Pembrokeshire.
