LEGENDARY guitarist and composer Gordon Giltrap will be playing a solo acoustic concert in the atmospheric setting of Burnett’s Hill Chapel, Martletwy, on Wednesday June 10.

Gordon’s long career began on the London folk scene in the 1960s alongside musicians such as Ralph McTell and Bert Jansch, but it was when he added rock and blues influences to his music that he began to achieve widespread recognition and commercial success.

His 1977 album ‘Perilous Journey’ was named one of the albums of the year, and a single from the album, ‘Heartsong’, reached number 21 in the UK charts, resulting in appearances on Top of The Pops and The Old Grey Whistle Test.

‘Heartsong’ became the theme tune to the TV show ‘Holiday’, and Gordon also wrote the theme to the long-running holiday show ‘Wish You Were Here’.

Regarded as one of the finest guitarists in the business, Gordon has performed and recorded with a Who’s Who of musicians, including Rick Wakeman, John Williams, John Etheridge and Pete Townsend, and he has been awarded the MBE for services to music.

At Burnett’s Hill in Pembrokeshire he will play an acoustic set showcasing music from his six decades in the music business – expect everything from his own compositions to Celtic tunes and music by J S Bach, Django Reinhardt and perhaps even The Who.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets (£12.50) can be reserved by phoning 01646 651725.
