The popular ‘Falcon Fun Day’ returned to Pembroke Dock on Bank Holiday Monday, May 29.

Members of Saber Guild - Naboo Temple, The Rebel Legion UK and Imperial Welsh Squad joined in the Star Wars-themed fun at the Heritage Centre.

Nearby is where they built the Millennium Falcon for the Empire Strikes Back film -  the last ship to be built at the dockyard in Pembroke Dock. The Heritage Centre has a piece of the original model and an exhibition dedicated to the story of the secret construction of the spaceship in a former RAF hangar.

With its plethora of costumed characters including Darth Vader, and, for the first time at the event, Chewbacca the Wookiee - who towered over the ‘Dark Lord’ himself, the Fun Day was hailed “another phenomenal success”, with the Penfro Model Club included in a vote of thanks.

Visitors turned up in their hundreds to watch the re-enactors from the 501st Garrison, see R2D2 and undergo lightsaber training. The Heritage Centre was apologetic about the queues and promised to look into this for future events, but participants commented that it was worth the wait; they had loved the event and it had made their children’s day.
