Emergency repairs to a collapsed sewer will see one of the main routes out of Tenby closed to traffic for five days from Monday.

Pembrokeshire County Council has given notice that the temporary prohibition of vehicular traffic will occur on Upper Park Road from its junction with Trafalgar Road to its junction with the access to the multi-storey car park on June 8.

The emergency road closure is to allow for the works to take place in the vicinity of Four Seasons Fruit and Vegetable shop.

The ‘one way’ order for Upper/Lower Park Road will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works to enable Heavy Goods Vehicles to travel to the businesses located along these roads under Traffic Management control.

The alternative route for traffic is - Trafalgar Road, Queens Parade, Station Road, Warren Street and Penally Hill. Pedestrian access will be maintained for the duration of the closure.

The restrictions imposed by this notice will not apply to those vehicles associated with the works, emergency service vehicles or vehicular access to affected properties where practicable and will only apply during such times and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs.

“It is anticipated that this closure will be completed within the timeframe stated, however, this notice may continue in force for a period not exceeding 21 days, after which time its provision maybe extended by another notice under the same act if necessary,” stated Darren Thomas PCC’s head of infrastructure.
