On Friday, September 28, a group of talented painter/decorators from Valero joined forces with a number of volunteers from both our staff and further community to give Ysgol Greenhill a well-deserved spot of TLC as part of the Valero Volunteers scheme.
Between the hours of 3.30 and 7.30 pm, the assembled team - comprised of boys, girls, men and women - invested their skills and energy into transforming the school premises into something undeniably more welcoming to both its learners and visitors.
Aided by a playlist of uplifting music, an undeniable air of fun and a shared sense of purpose, each individual “attacked” their work section with supreme care and attention, making the overall finished product a pleasure to behold.
We at Greenhill would like to send out an enormous token of gratitude to each and every one of the volunteers who attended - Teachers, Receptionists, Technicians, Governors, Pupils, sibling, and, of course, the fine folks at Valero, without whom none of this would’ve happened!

Congratulations to the winners of the Learning Resource Centre’s ‘Mr Twit’s Beard Competition’ which was recently held to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. 1st Prize was won by Carys Wood of Year 7, 2nd Prize went to Georgie Kidd of Year 8 and 3rd Prize to Louis Chadd of Year 7.
Claiming a runner-up prize was Seth Rowlands of Year 8. Well done to everyone who entered, and we hope the winners enjoy their prizes!
County Rugby Star
Ysgol Greenhill School would like to say a huge congratulations to Cian Rogers, who was selected to play for the Pembrokeshire Schools Rugby U15s against a strong Llanelli Schools team on September 28. It was a hard fought match and Cian did us all proud!
Science Club is Out of This World
September 27 saw the first meeting of the year for Ysgol Greenhill School’s Science Club. The theme the club will be exploring this term is Astronomy, and this week saw them building and launching matchstick rockets. Following on from the theme, the club members are looking forward to their trip to the Techniquest Planetarium in November.
Busy Week for Boys Games
Last week was a busy week for Ysgol Greenhill School’s PE department with four inter-school matches taking place.
The first match took place on Tuesday when we welcomed the Ysgol Bro Gwaun Year 8 Rugby team for what proved to be an excellent afternoon of sport.
Thursday saw two Welsh Cup football matches take place, with Year 9 battling against a strong Queen Elizabeth High side, and Year 7 playing their first match for the school against Ysgol Preseli. Despite strong performances on the day by all involved, unfortunately both teams came in second this time.
Thursday also saw a Year 9 Rugby friendly take place against Ysgol Preseli. The Greenhill boys thoroughly enjoyed their first home match of the season, the highlight of the game being the second half performance when the Greenhill boys showed fantastic effort and determination to fight back against Preseli’s early lead.
Special mention has to go to the Year 8 boys Tommie Oakley, Kyle Rossiter and Iorri Richards who played up a year and did very well as the front row unit. Try scorers for the match were Tommie Oakley (scoring two tries) and Max Morgan, with Conversions being made expertly by Archie Treadaway-Williams.
Thanks go to all the pupils, parents and guardians who turned out en masse to support the teams for a great afternoon of sport. Diolch yn fawr!
