Do you see yourself as the next Jane Austen, J K Rowling or Stephen King? Do you have a lot of ideas scrambling around in your head that would make a super story but need that extra little push to write them down on paper?

Well look no further, as the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven invites you to its February Half Term Creative Writing Workshops for both young people and adults. These workshops will give budding writers the opportunity to develop their playwriting and creative writing skills led by the Torch’s expert in-house team.

“We believe that everyone has a story to tell, and we want to help you share yours! No experience is necessary for either of these schemes, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to get involved,” said Tim Howe, Senior Manager Youth and Community at the Torch Theatre.

He added: “Do you have a story that you’d like to turn into a play, but you don’t know where to start? Or you’re just a little bit curious about how plays are written? Join the Torch for these relaxed creative writing workshops where they take you through the principles of beginning to write - the first steps on the road to becoming a playwright.”

The workshops will look at writing techniques, as well as giving participants the opportunity to share ideas with the group and getting that elusive first scene and character down on the page.

The Adult Creative Writing Workshop for all those aged 18+ will take place on Sunday, February 19 from 1pm to 6pm at a cost of £20. Young people aged 15-18 years are welcome to join the workshops on Monday 20, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday, February 22, from 10am to 4pm.The cost for these three days is £50.

The youth sessions complement GCSE and Level study and have been designed to support the development of literacy and oracy skills through playwriting.

Tim concluded: “We bring professional playwriting practice and our participants together in creative, playful, and challenging sessions, which seek to nurture the voice of the young people.”
