A Pembrokeshire College Protective Services learner became part of an historical moment when she, along with other Sea Cadets, was selected to join the King’s Coronation Parade earlier this month.

A former Head Girl at Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi, Maisie Millichip was deployed at Admiralty Arch and then later joined the procession of leading the public towards Buckingham Palace.

A variety of the Cadet Forces were present for the Coronation which included the Sea Cadet Corps, Royal Marines Cadets, Volunteer Cadet Corps, Combined Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and Army Cadet Force.

Thrilled by the experience Maisie said, “I was deployed at Admiralty Arch in the company of cadets from across the country and had a front row seat as the gold state coach went by with thousands of sailors, soldiers and aviators.

“Following the Coronation, we had the honour of leading the viewing public down the mall towards Buckingham Palace and had a fantastic view of the Royal Family assembled on the balcony.

It was an honour and privilege to have been a part of such an historical event, one which I will never forget.”

Maisie has recently been selected as First Sea Lord Cadet, representing the whole of the southwest area.

However, this isn’t Maisie’s first Royal Engagement as a Sea Cadet. Maisie had the great responsibility of escorting King Charles at The Mountbatten Festival of Music earlier this year and has met Prince William and Princess Anne on several occasions.

Protective services tutor Stephen Quinton said, “It’s great to see Maisie representing the Sea Cadets in national events like the

Coronation. Maisie is a hard-working student and has the potential to be an excellent officer in the armed forces.”

After her course Maisie is looking to join the Navy as an Officer.

“The course I am studying at College has definitely helped me develop as a person and push me outside of my comfort zone. It has also opened my eyes to the types of careers available in the military.”

Later this year Maisie will be joining in the Remembrance Sunday Parade in London in respect of those who dedicated their lives to their country.
