Sir,

There is an old musical song I recall, ‘Let’s All Go Down The Strand’. The title of this always came to mind when ever I drove down ‘The Strand’ in Saundersfoot.

I’m now changing the title to ‘Let’s NOT All Go Down The Strand’. (Not in a car anyway, after my incident on October11, 2019).

When driving towards Coppet Hall tunnel to turn around, I got to where cars are allowed to park on the double yellow lines this time of year when a car came towards me from the opposite direction, without stopping. I was obliged to pull over, causing me to hit the wing mirror of a parked car with my wing mirror.

It caused no damage to my wing mirror.

I left my telephone number for the car owner (being the honest citizen I am) to get in touch with me.

This they did and decided to claim through my insurance company. I have just discovered the the claim made for ‘Replacement of Wing Mirror - £4,109.59p’.

Yes, four thousand one hundred and nine pounds and fifty-nine pence. Maybe it is gold plated.

Drivers be warned.

Perhaps the double yellow line law should be adhered to all the year round along The Strand.

Muriel Tilley,

Saundersfoot.
