Dragon LNG Darwin Experience is supporting young people from the Pembroke area to take part in an exciting new outdoor experience led by the National Trust's Stackpole Centre.
Gill Wilkinson and Rachael Glover from Stackpole Centre and Sam and Marten from Darwin have run a pilot with some of the Pembroke family of schools. Cosheston, Blue School, and Monkton (pictured).
All had the opportunity to explore the wonderful resources and beautiful environment at Stackpole.
The events were curriculum linked and included understanding habitats and food chains through pond dipping in the impressive lakes at the estate, others learned about camouflage in the animal kingdom by face painting and hiding in the woods.
Due to high winds, Monkton visited Barafundle beach to seek out litter and create beach art, followed by rock pooling at middle beach.
The event is a partnership between National Trust and Darwin and was made possible by the desire for the Stackpole Centre to engage with the local public and the generous sponsorship from Dragon LNG which allows the Darwin team to form alliances which help open access to young people in Pembrokeshire to wonderful resources.
Darwin manager Marten Lewis says: "The pilot has proved to be a great success, we hope that with the National Trust we can offer similar exciting events to schools across Pembrokeshire. It has been a real reminder to me of the fantastic resources which are open to the public at Stackpole."
