A woman with serious arm injuries was evacuated from Skokholm Island last Thursday by RNLI Angle's all-weather lifeboat. The Tamar class lifeboat Mark Mason was launched at 2.08 pm and reached the island in just over half-an-hour. Due to tidal conditions, the Mark Mason's Y Boat was deployed to assess and transfer the casualty to the lifeboat. The woman was then taken to the Milford Haven Port Authority jetty, where she was handed over to awaiting ambulance personnel. The lifeboat was released to return to her station, arriving at 4.14 pm. Just over three hours later, the lifeboat was diverted from an exercise, for her second call-out of the day, to a yacht in difficulty at West Angle Bay. Once on scene, with the yacht now ashore, the lifeboat's Y Boat was deployed and investigated whether there were any persons on board and the condition of the vessel. With no persons present, and there appearing to be no water ingress, the Y Boat towed the yacht off the rocks into deeper water, where the tow was handed over to the lifeboat. After further investigations, it was concluded that the yacht had parted her moorings in Dale and had drifted to West Angle. The lifeboat made her way towards Dale, where the tow was handed over to a rib which placed the yacht on a safe mooring. The lifeboat was released at 8.50 pm and continued with her planned exercise.
