Seventy years on Pembrokeshire residents who lived through the war years may well recall a terrible accident at Pembroke Dock.
On an April morning in 1942 a course involving land mines went horribly wrong at the Defensible Barracks overlooking the town. In the explosion 18 Army personnel were killed instantly and another died later.
A memorial is planned in this 70th anniversary year and contact is sought with anyone who remembers this tragic accident. Further details of the memorial plans will be announced later.
Anyone who has memories or information about this wartime tragedy is asked to contact Martin Cavaney on 01646 622213 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]
