Narberth’s Spar store has been helping to cheer up children with a magical home delivery service straight out of Disneyland!

The store on High Street has been delivering to families, elderly and vulnerable residents and those alone, for the past four to five weeks.

The team in store have handled the situation to the best of their abilities, which has been successful, and all customers have been very grateful. And management and staff are always looking to improve the delivery service including inviting special visitors.

On Easter Sunday, the Easter Bunny arrived to carry out home deliveries, to lighten the mood of children in lockdown. With egg orders placed with the store, the Easter Bunny then went delivering around the area, placing the children’s eggs on doorsteps.

This week, the store decided to allocate a day to families, to brighten children’s days, by having Mickey and Minnie Mouse to do their home deliveries!

One of the team, Kayleigh Kitts has been working in her community and was donated character costumes, from Cheeky Chimps of Pembroke Dock, so she brought the characters of Mickey and Minnie to Narberth to do home deliveries for her and fellow staff member Stuart Batley to dress up as.

“We had a lot of interest in this and had great fun, whilst seeing a lot of excited children in the community area,” said store manager Carl John.

“We are now looking forward to the next entertainment for children, which will be Olaf from Frozen, on Thursday, May 7.

“We have had a policy on home deliveries, of a minimum spend. However we have decided to lift this on a Thursday within a 6 mile radius - so parents, guardians and carers are able to phone and place an order of sweets, magazines, toys, chocolates, pop and crisps.

“I would like to thank all my team for their full support during these difficult times and it is great to be giving back to the community of Narberth,” added Carl.
