On November 2, the Rotary Club of Pembroke celebrated its diamond birthday dinner at the Court Hotel, Lamphey, marking 60 years of support to the local community. Over the years, the club has raised substantial funds, which have been used to support local and international charities and to help many smaller groups and individuals within the community. Recently, a donation of £2,000 was given to the Philippines relief. The Rotary Club's support can make a difference!

The club organises and hosts a number of popular events and many people will recall over the years the enjoyable cabaret evenings held at the Pater Hall, Pembroke Dock, with Rotarians providing the entertainment. More recently, the concerts given by the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra at Folly Farm, which they have now been hosting for 15 years, have been a big success. The club also organises the popular Manorbier Castle 'fun day' which is greatly enjoyed by families and children.

Support is also given to young people through the schools 'drug awareness programme', the 'kids out' event and the Rotary schools contests and young leaders programme.

The dinner was attended by Dave Curtiss, District Governor, as well as by members of the Inner Wheel and representatives of other local clubs and organisations.

After dinner, the club and its guests enjoyed a programme of musical entertainment given by Roger Ferris, a distinguished local guitarist.
