HAVERFORDWEST magistrates have sent a Pembroke man to prison for intentional strangulation.

At the trial on Monday, August 4, Gareth Richards, of Church Terrace, Monkton, changed his plea to guilty in two cases, meaning that he admitted all three charges.

In April 2024 at Haverfordwest, the 43-year-old had intentionally strangled a person. Then, between June 4 and 15 of this year he had pursued a course of harassment without violence, including on June 7 criminal damage to a vase, globe and TV belonging to the same individual.

Taking the guilty pleas into account, Richards was jailed for 72 weeks (52 consecutive to another sentence), ordered to pay £840 in compensation plus CPS costs of £400, and subjected to a restraining order.
