The animal welfare team at Pembrokeshire County Council has been presented with a prestigious award by RSPCA Cymru for its ground-breaking work to promote and support animal health at riding stables and other establishments.

The RSPCA Innovator for Wales Award, which rewards pioneering and imaginative steps taken to improve animal welfare, was given in recognition of the team’s work to create new riding establishment licensing conditions under the Animal Welfare Act.

Councillor Pat Davies, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regulatory Services, said the award was very well deserved.

“We are delighted that our Animal Health and Welfare initiatives have been recognised,” she said.

“The new proposed licensing conditions are to be rolled out across Wales, continuing Pembrokeshire County Council’s innovative and collaborative approach to animal welfare.

“Being recognised as a winner in the Innovators category is a great accomplishment and we appreciate the dedication and hard work of our employees to achieve these awards.”
