Sir,
I feel compelled to respond to Clr. Perkins’s final ‘fact’ in last week’s letter to the Observer. In it she quotes, ‘poor, with teaching methods being inhibited due to the existing accommodation of the school.’
Nowhere in any Inspection Report have I seen such a comment. Having taught at the Infant School for over 20 years, I have only ever heard or read praise for the school.
Clr. Perkins’s comment makes it sound as if the school is being relocated because of ‘poor’ teaching methods in a ‘poor’ building. The teaching and the building were never the issue!
All ‘errors’ and ‘facts’ could so easily have been addressed by simple consultation, both before and during this new build. Members of Pembrokeshire County Council were asked to do just that at a meeting organised by Simon Hart, but no representative attended.
Having been a member of Tenby Town Council, I am fully aware of its remit, but equally aware of the fact that other major developments within the town were on the agenda at each meeting and therefore reported in the press.
I understand the condition of planning permission, but this does not make the outcome the right decision for the future of our children.
I hope from this, a meeting will be arranged where all interested parties can attend to ensure that all the so-called ‘inaccuracies’ and mistaken assumptions can be addressed.
Sandra Williams,
Tenby.
